Clean Rooms | Data Recovery | Hard Drive Recovery

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

Clean rooms are essential element of any reputable data recovery company, but why is this?

A hard drive is an extremely delicate electronic component of a computer, and when it is manufactured or put together this has to be done in completely clean conditions. There must be no risk whatsoever of the platters or heads of a hard drive being contaminated by even the smallest speck of dust. Such contamination can cause data to be lost through corruption.

When a hard drive fails mechanically the data recovery company has to open up the hard drive, and this can only be done in perfectly clean conditions. A clean room is pressurized through fine filters so that when someone enters through an air lock, air will only flow out and not in.

Intratec services

Intratec is an organization that are experts in data recovery. We started off in Cape Town in the year 2000, and within a few years have already opened branches in Johannesburg and Durban. We use the very latest hi tech equipment and the latest soft

ware available for data recovery. If you know your way around computers and databases it can be quite simple to recover lost data yourself, especially when you can call upon backups. However, the recovery job is sometimes much more complex, involving the use of a special clean room in which to dismantle fragile equipment such as hard drives. This is the time when you need to call in the database recovery experts.

The Clean Room

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

You probably want to know what a clean room is and why we may need to use it. Technology has advanced so far that the assembly of many delicate components has to take place in completely clean conditions – that is to say that there must be absolutely no risk of a component being contaminated by even a single microscopic speck of dust. In order to achieve this assembly takes place in a perfectly clean environment. Air pressure is maintained in such a way that if the airlock should be broken air will only flow out and not into the room. Small components such as read/write heads in a hard drive will find contamination if there is dust present. By the same token, if we have to open a hard drive it has to be done in a clean room in order to prevent any contamination from dust or other contaminants.
