Most recovery programs work in a similar way. You need to select the disk where the lost files are located and let the program analyze the content of the disk. Then select the file you want to recover and provide a location where you want to save th
at file. Installing any software after data loss will increase the risk of the lost data being overwritten.
A recovery program installed now is good insurance for your data, so it may be worth while installing a data recovery program just in case! Even the best recovery software can’t guarantee 100% results.
Some parts of your files may have been overwritten, meaning that other data was saved to that location on your disk.

Notebooks and laptops are becoming more and more popular. Apart from their obvious moveability, and because they are battery driven, notebooks are unlikely to suffer damage due to mains electricity dips and surges or nearby lightning strikes, though the latter is still possible if the notebook happens to be connected to a network. Notebook data recovery is far more likely to be needed when there has been physical damage to the machine due to dropping it, fire or liquid damage or component failure in the machine.
Data recovery for a notebook can be accomplished in exactly the same way as for a PC – the only difference is in the size of the machine. Because it is so much smaller than a PC, the job tends to be a little more difficult and intricate.

There are several that you can do to avoid having to use a data recovery company, and if you are using a program like MS Word, there are a couple of things you can do right this minute to help future recovery.
When you’re in the MS Word program,
go to Tools/Options/Save and put a tick in the “Always create backup copy” box. Then on the same tab where it says “Save auto recovery information every” put a 2 or a 5 in the box to the right. Save your options. This will save the information in the document you have open into a backup file every 2 or 5 minutes.
If you open your documents directory in Explorer you will see the backup files there. Data recovery is made so much easier when you take sensible precautions with your data, but if you do find yourself in a panic situation, give us a call – we’re here to help you.

Intratec Data Recovery can recover lost data from Notebook or Laptop computers just as well as they can from a desktop PC or any other computer. Laptops and Notebooks are just a little more compact and you may not be able to remove the hard drive from them yourself, in which case you may have to dispatch the whole unit to us. If you cannot deliver the computer in person to us, you should be extremely careful how you package it, as we cannot be responsible for any damage it may incur during its passage to us. There should be at least 15cms of insulation around this type of computer or indeed a desktop if you have to courier one to us. It should also be clearly marked as being fragile.
