Data recovery techniques
The data recovery techniques used to recover your lost data will depend on the category of recovery used. Broadly speaking these can be either internal or external. External cases can be physical (eg replacing a printed circuit board) or logical (where the drive is still functioning) such as deleted files or a corrupt file system structure. Internal cases are more problematic as this will involve opening up the hard drive in clean conditions. This could be crashed heads, a failed motor or physical contamination. Whatever the cause it will be necessary to carry out an evaluation of the damage or loss and giving you an estimate of the damage to your pocket.
