Fujitsu data recovery

A few years ago Fujitsu admitted that they had released nearly 5 million potentially defective hard drives with faulty chips. Today, Fujitsu hard drives usually perform with higher than average reliability than is available from other manufacturers. It is not very common for Fujitsu hard drives to suffer physical failure – when they do crash it’s more likely to be because of some external cause. The hard drive can lose track information relevant to its function and can be shown incorrectly in the BIOS or it can start clicking. In most cases hard drive data recovery or even full repair of the unit is possible as long as it is not operated while faulty for lengthy periods.

While failed Fujitsu drives are often repairable, it is essential that you do not attempt to replace a faulty controller board with one from a working drive. Information on the board is specific to the drive it has been attached to and it will not function anywhere else. What’s worse is that a different controller board can cause mechanical failure and dramatically increasing the risk of rendering your data unrecoverable. As soon as you suspect your Fujitsu drive may be about to malfunction, turn the drive off and remove it from the system as soon as possible. The sooner you power down the drive the better your chances of recovering lost data once you send the drive to us for diagnosis. Common symptoms of failed Fujitsu hard drives are:

  • Failure to be recognized by the BIOS
  • Even when recognized by the BIOS the description is incorrect or indecipherabl
  • Sudden failure of the hard disk drive
  • The drive is inaccessible but remains functioning physically
  • The BIOS recognizes the drive but a fail error still appears

If you have a suspect Fujitsu Hard Drive don’t hesitate to contact us.
