- Check your recycle bin for the file. If it is still there, simply double click the item and click restore to restore the file to its original location, or drag and drop the file onto your desktop or another folder.
- The longer that a file has been deleted the less of a chance you have of recovering it, so it is not always possible to recover a deleted file.
- Some data recovery programs are free, while others cost money, so be sure to find one that works best for you.
- Always backup your personal data to an External Hard Drive, CD/DVD or other kind of media in the event of an accident.

The time that it takes for data recovery and its cost to you will depend on several factors. To give an easy example, the recovery of a single file that you have accidentally deleted yourself can be so simple that it could probably be recovered by you, yourself, if you knew just a little about computers.
At the other extreme, if some physical element inside a hard drive has been damaged or broken, or if the surface of the magnetic media has been damaged, this would mean dismantling it in our clean room and this is usually a very involved and lengthy process.
The cost to you would be proportional to the amount of work carried out, whom it was carried out by, and the cost of any replacement parts. If you need a quotation or need further information regarding data loss, contact us on 083 415 5154

When the hard drive in a file server breaks down, data recovery has to be established without delay in order to get everyone back on line. In many cases the failure of a file server can mean the loss of many thousands of Rands for every minute of down time. Server data recovery is one of our specialties.
Whether data loss is as a result of corruption, accidental deletion of a file or files, or data access is denied because of mechanical failure, we are always ready to help in its recovery.
At whatever time you have a data loss problem, you should get in touch with one of our technicians asap so that we can find out what caused it and make a decision as to the best means for its recovery. We are fully aware of the importance of getting you up and running in as short a time as possible.

Notebooks and laptops are becoming more and more popular. Apart from their obvious moveability, and because they are battery driven, notebooks are unlikely to suffer damage due to mains electricity dips and surges or nearby lightning strikes, though the latter is still possible if the notebook happens to be connected to a network. Notebook data recovery is far more likely to be needed when there has been physical damage to the machine due to dropping it, fire or liquid damage or component failure in the machine.
Data recovery for a notebook can be accomplished in exactly the same way as for a PC – the only difference is in the size of the machine. Because it is so much smaller than a PC, the job tends to be a little more difficult and intricate.

It can be a very disheartening thing when a hard drive crashes out on you. Most of us have experienced that terrible morning when you switch on your computer and it refuses to boot up. It doesn’t matter how many times you try it, it just will not boot up. If you know a little about computers, you might try to go into CMOS to check the settings, but for most of us the only answer is to call in the hard drive recovery experts. Only a few years ago there was no such thing, but the rapid expansion of Information Technology has given rise to a number of hard drive recovery experts to fill this gap.
You can find hard drive recovery experts in most of the main centres. Intratec is the one we always use. They have offices in Cape Town, Johannesburg and a recently opened branch in Durban. These hard drive recovery experts have all the latest equipment and make use of the very latest software available. Hard drives can crash for a number of reasons. There could be a physical failure of the read/write head.
The motor that drives the drive could have failed. There could be corruption of the data itself on the hard drive – this can easily occur when there has been a dip or a spike in the voltage, such as occurs during electrical storms or power outages. Or you could have accidentally kicked the computer while the heads were in motion. If you have a boot up problem, call the experts. Call Intratec.
