There are any number of ways that data can be lost or damaged these days. It only needs a small spike in the voltage to corrupt a data file. Add to this the thousands upon thousands of computer viruses that are at large on the Internet, and the chance become pretty high that at some time or other you will need to call in damaged data recovery services. If you have not yet suffered from this setback, there are a number of things that you can do to minimise the risk of it occurring and, should it occur, of making it easier for damaged data recovery.
The first thing to do is to make sure that you have a good anti-virus program running – there are a number of good free programs to be downloaded on the web. Next, if you can afford one, fit an UPS (Uninterrupted power supply) to your computer. This is a battery package that sits between the mains and your pc, giving you time to save your work safely in the event of a power cut. It will also dampen down any power surges or spikes. If there should be a thunderstorm in your area, turn off your equipment and unplug it from the mains. Finally, back up your data files regularly, and keep a copy of them somewhere distant from your pc. Doing these few things will minimise the risk of you losing data. If you should ever need damaged data recovery then don’t despair. Companies like our’s have been specialising in damaged data recovery for a number of years, and it is very rare for data to be completely lost.
