Sometimes, because of circumstances entirely beyond your control, it may be necessary to recover deleted data from your hard drive. Data can be lost for a number of different reasons, ranging from climatic conditions (such as extreme heat or humidity), magnetic storms, voltage dips or peaks or a viral infection.
It’s possible to take precautions to minimise the possibility of data loss, but the chances are that sooner or later it could happen to you. Data loss can be something small, like just a file or two accidentally deleted, in which case it may be easy to recover, or there could be extensive damage to the hard drive, when it could take a lot longer.
We can normally recover deleted data successfully about 80% of the time, depending on the amount of damage the HDD has sustained. The first thing we do is to evaluate the damage to see whether it is possible to attempt the recovery – if it is then we will give you a quotation to see whether you wish us to go ahead. If you do, then we will proceed to clone the system and start to recover the deleted data.
We don’t usually need to have your whole computer, just the hard drive will do. If we get to the position where we need you to bring or send us the HDD, be sure that it is well wrapped in bubble wrap – never use polystyrene pellets because of static. If a hard drive is water damaged, ship it wrapped in a damp cloth to prevent it from drying out.
